High gastronomy and good wines are synonim of hospitality in any farmhouse in Grosseto. We can especially point out the Val d'Orcia area as a territory where culinary arts have stayed especially loyal to the tradition: the local food tradition is indeed a wholesome and tasty one. In this well reknowned area in the province of Grosseto the main food courses are rustic dishes, made with simple, but high quality produce coming from the local countryside. The heart of this picturesque center is a romantic medieval area, surrounded by walls and towers and domnated by the Aragonese Castle (XIVth century). A farmhouse holiday in Grosseto means enjoying fully the culinary tradition of Tuscany Maremma. The range of typical food produce and dishes is huge, but we can suggest a special treat, once reserved to the noble class of the region, despite its name: the fisherman fettuccine ("fettuccine del pescatore"). The main ingredients are scampi, oysters, arugula, salt, pepper, garlic and extra-virgin olive oil: a festival for seafood lovers! If you prefer more "earthy" flavours, you can ask your farmhouse's landlord in Grosseto: fragrant wild mushrooms are widely common in the Maremma country and they are the basic ingredient for a homemade mushroom soup, best accompanied by garlic bread and parmigiano reggiano.
